Gesture Research

Gestural user interfaces are rapidly gaining in popularity. While mobile phones and gaming devices are some of the best-known examples of this, gestural user interfaces are being developed for many more applications, like televisions, touchpads, and computer input. Yet, there is very little user research on the design of gestures, and even less research on the cultural influence on user gestures even though many products are aimed at a global market. This blog is targeted to gesture research conducted by HumanCentric and the International Usability Partners. The first group of entries will describe a recent study where 40 participants in each of 8 countries were asked to create a gesture for 28 common actions. This study will be described here, along with the results as the data is analyzed.
So, keep coming back. As the data is analyzed and results are found, they will be published here first.
