Thanks to everyone who made it out of bed and to our presentation at 9 am on Saturday! We appreciated the attentive ears, questions and discussion after the early morning presentation. For those of you who maybe had one too many caipirinhas at Luminaire, or couldn’t make the conference altogether, we wanted to share our paper and presentation with you. It’s hard to listen to traditional media outlets and not be inundated with the doom and gloom of our current economic condition. I was listening to new albums in the car for a few weeks and I almost thought the recession was over, but then I switched back to NPR. And it wasn’t. However, in all the reports I’ve heard, one piece of info stands out. It said, historically, recessions and depressions are times of drastic social and economic change.

I love Craigslist. With a regional filter, it provides a window into the lives of the single, the unemployed, and the junk ridden people you never knew lived all around you. For me it is a constant source of entertainment. But more than entertainment, it has changed the way I think about buying the things I need, and how I think about product lifetimes.
